Brain Bypass Surgery
Assam's Premier Multi Superspeciality Hospital
About Brain Bypass Surgery
Cerebral revascularisation that reroutes blood to parts of the brain starved of supply by blocked or narrowed arteries.
Brain (cerebral) bypass surgery creates a new route for blood to reach the brain when a major artery is blocked, severely narrowed, or has to be closed to treat a complex aneurysm or tumour. A healthy scalp artery, or a graft taken from the arm or leg, is connected to a brain artery beyond the blockage.
Our neurosurgeons perform bypass procedures with an operating microscope in a modular neuro-theatre, with intraoperative monitoring and dedicated neuro-anaesthesia. After surgery, patients recover in the Neuro ICU with close monitoring of blood flow and neurological function.
