Hernia Repair
Assam's Premier Multi Superspeciality Hospital
About Hernia Repair
Laparoscopic and open mesh repair for inguinal, umbilical, incisional and other hernias.
A hernia occurs when part of the intestine or fatty tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall, causing a bulge that may ache, especially when lifting or coughing. Hernias do not heal on their own and can become trapped (strangulated), which needs emergency surgery.
Our surgeons repair hernias using laparoscopic (keyhole) or open techniques, usually reinforcing the area with a mesh to reduce the chance of recurrence. Most patients go home the same day or the next day.
